Edward began his career in the wine trade with Berry Brothers and Rudd back in 2001 and subsequently gained further experience as a wine trader at Fine and Rare Wines before being approached to set up Roberson Fine Wine, which has since become one of the wine trade’s great success stories. Subsequently headhunted to take up a role on the Trading team at John Armit Wines, Edward quickly rose to the position of Director of Trading, transforming the turnover of his department and establishing an unrivalled network of customers both in the UK and abroad. In 2013 he joined Piers German in founding Burns & German Vintners.

His knowledge of the wine market and connections both here and abroad made him one of the best loved characters in the trade and one of the finest lunch companions you could ever wish for. His gift for friendship and his immense sense of humour was legendary and he lived by his motto, “You only have one life, make every day count.”

Ed passed away in August 2018.
